Introducing FosterClass: A Great First Step to Fostering
Foster parenting can feel like quite an intimidating undertaking. At Skookum Kids, we want to make that process as accessible as possible.
In doing so, we created a curriculum that ANYONE can take.
No matter which stage you’re at in becoming a foster parent, you can work through this course to learn more.
Our team has been hard at work creating videos, pdfs, stories, interviews, and even quizzes! Topics covered include: trauma-informed care, court case proceedings, key players in the foster care system, how to adjust to home-life, understanding cultural differences, and more. Listen to Ray share about his hope for FosterClass.
Here’s a sneak peek at the content covered in the course:
Module 1: Introduction to Child Welfare
Module 2: Working as Members of the Team
Module 3: Working with Birth Parents
Module 4: Cultural Connections and Advocacy
Module 5: Growing up with Trauma, Grief, and Loss
Module 6: Understanding and Managing Behaviors
Module 7: Communication and Crisis Management
Module 8: Getting Ready and the Effects on the Caregiving Family
We love this course because it's move-at-your-own-pace training. Fit it into your schedule when you can and your progress will be saved. We can’t wait to connect with you more!
